The Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland delivered one of the most memorable performances in their history at Carnegie Hall, New York City — receiving no fewer than ten standing ovations from an electrified audience.
The night was described by attendees as extraordinary — a testament to the exceptional talent, commitment and passion of the young musicians who make up the CBOI.
From the very first note the packed Carnegie Hall audience was captivated by the power and precision of the orchestra's playing. By the end of the evening the entire hall was on its feet — a reaction that few Irish ensembles have ever achieved on that most hallowed of stages.
The performance reinforced the CBOI's reputation as one of Ireland's most exceptional youth orchestras and as an internationally recognised force for peace through music.
"Every single member of this orchestra gave everything tonight. What this group of young people from across Ireland and Northern Ireland achieved together on this stage is something none of us will ever forget." — Greg Beardsell, Conductor
The CBOI was founded in 1995 as a peace initiative and has since grown into one of the island of Ireland's most celebrated cultural organisations, performing to audiences of hundreds of thousands of people across Ireland, the UK, the United States and beyond.
