On 17th March 2023 the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland took to the iconic stage at Carnegie Hall in New York City to celebrate their work and achievements in promoting peace, unity and tolerance in Ireland since their foundation in 1995.
The concert also marked the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement — a landmark moment in the history of the island of Ireland that the CBOI has worked tirelessly to support through music since its inception.
The performance was met with a standing ovation from a packed Carnegie Hall audience and received widespread media coverage across Ireland, the UK and the United States.
The CBOI's Carnegie Hall performance stands as one of the most significant moments in the orchestra's history — a powerful statement that music has the unique power to unite communities, bridge divides and build lasting peace.
Conductor Greg Beardsell led the orchestra through a programme that celebrated the very best of Irish musical culture, drawing audiences to their feet in one of the world's most prestigious concert halls.
The CBOI would like to thank all of the musicians, parents, teachers and supporters who made this extraordinary journey possible.
"What this group of young people from across Ireland and Northern Ireland achieved together on that stage is something none of us will ever forget." — Greg Beardsell, Conductor
