Susan Forde has dedicated almost 40 years to education, working across both the primary and secondary sectors. Throughout her career, she has been passionate about supporting young people, creating opportunities for them to develop their confidence and abilities, and recognising the important role that education, music and the arts can play in their lives.

Susan's connection with the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland dates back to its very beginnings. In 1995, when CBOI was founded as a pioneering peace initiative following the first ceasefire, Susan was teaching at St. Louis Secondary School in Dundalk. She became involved with the Orchestra at that time and has remained closely connected to CBOI ever since.

Over the years, Susan has contributed to the Orchestra in many different capacities. Now serving as a Director on the CBOI Board, Susan brings a wealth of experience in education, youth development, organisation and pastoral care, together with more than three decades of first-hand knowledge of CBOI and its evolution.

Alongside her work with CBOI, Susan is a Team Leader with Children in Hospital Ireland, a charity that supports children and their parents during hospital stays through its play service. Susan provides supportive play to children in Our Lady's Children's Hospital, helping to reduce anxiety, provide distraction and create moments of fun and normality during what can be a difficult and stressful experience for children and their families.

Susan's longstanding commitment to education, young people and community service reflects the values at the heart of CBOI. Her contribution to the organisation over more than 30 years has been characterised by dedication, compassion and a deep belief in the positive impact that music, friendship and shared experiences can have on young people's lives.
